Kekao Monthly Craft Chocolate Club - September
Let's take a closer look at what chocolates you can expect to receive this month with the Kekao Box.
Taza Chocolate:
Taza Chocolate makes stone ground chocolate. Cacao is so complex in flavour that they want to let it shout loud and proud. That is why they do less to bring us more. They stone grind organic cacao beans into perfectly unrefined, minimally processed chocolate with bold flavour and texture, unlike anything you have ever tasted.
Taza Chocolate Mexicano Super Dark 85% Discs
Taza's 85% Super Dark Chocolate Mexicano disc is the purest expression of Taza's chocolate, this 85% dark chocolate disc has just two ingredients: organic cacao beans and (just a little) organic cane sugar. Their unique stone ground chocolate making process lets the bold, fruity flavors of their organic cacao shout loud and proud, resulting in a Super Dark chocolate experience that's intensely satisfying, not bitter.

Original Beans:
Since 2008, Original Beans has ventured into remote rainforests to source the world’s rarest cacao beans and transform the cultures of chocolate, food, and luxury. Original Beans founder, Philipp Kauffmann, represents the 7th generation in a family of recognized nature explorers and conservationists who coined the term “sustainability”. Philipp gave up his job at the United Nations in New York to grow Original Beans as a leading brand for a world in which we regenerate what we consume. For each bar purchased, Original Beans plants a tree with their initiative, One Bar One Tree.
Original Beans Piura Porcelana 75%
Flavors of raspberry, dried prunes, and pecan divulge the secrets of this ultra-rare white cacao—nature’s delicious mistake— found along Peru’s coastal desert, the habitat of a diverse and bright butterfly collection.

LetterPress Chocolate:
LetterPress Chocolate's story starts in high school, where founders David and Corey met. Their first experience with cacao was in 2011 when they traveled to St. Lucia on vacation and happened to stop at a cacao plantation where they got to taste the pulp from cacao pods for the first time.
Two years later, the couple began a chocolate blog called Little Brown Squares which exclusively featured reviews of bean-to-bar chocolate bars.
David began purchasing small quantities of cacao beans from chocolate makers and brokers and started making his own batches. He eventually started making chocolate that tasted good enough to start selling to fellow employees. Today LetterPress Chocolate has its very own factory where you can visit and even complete a tour with tastings.
LetterPress Hacienda Azul, Costa Rica 70%
Hacienda Azul is a small farm located in the rural town of Turrialba in the province of Cartago a couple hours east of Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose. It is managed by the Zeuner family and employs 8 people full time. The famed CATIE university of agriculture is also located here and has provided 5 different clones to the farm. The beans are washed prior to drying and we’ve found this cacao fascinating by its versatility.
Tasting notes: Chocolate-covered sunflower seeds

Mirzam Chocolate Makers:
Mirzam Chocolate Makers is an Emirati chocolate maker founded in Dubai. Mirzam designed their chocolate production process to be transparent; you can experience every aspect of chocolate making at their chocolate factory, from roasting the cacao to hand wrapping each bar.
Their inspiration comes from the maritime spice route that took merchants around the world to buy delicious spices. They have selected cacao plantations located along this historic trail (Vietnam, Indonesia, Madagascar, Papua New Guinea, India, and Cuba) to create their single origin chocolate bars.
Mirzam Dark Chocolate With Figs, Star Anise, & Cinnamon 62%
A gently spiced bar, using two well known ingredients from the historical Spice Route together with organic dried figs from Turkey, laid in 62% dark single origin chocolate.
